Parent Engagement

A group of people, both men and women, are standing together and holding up certificates or documents in a formal setting.

Empowering Parents, Building PartnershipsThe need for parent empowerment and leadership emerged during the work of StanREADY, StanREADS, and StanMATH, highlighting the importance of parental engagement. Recognizing the existing relationships with Family Resource Centers (FRCs), the initiative aimed to leverage these community spaces to build parent capacity, with support from StriveTogether funding.

Building Regional Representation

In collaboration with Family/Parent Resource Centers, parent leads were identified to represent the various regions in StanCounty (North/South/West Modesto, Ceres, Oakdale, Patterson, Newman, Hughson, Waterford, Denair). These leads, supported by FRCs, work to:

  • Identify and voice the highest needs and concerns of their respective regions.

  • Highlight local assets and resources to engage the community in meaningful support opportunities.

Investing in Parent Leadership

The Stanislaus Cradle to Career Partnership (StanC2C) is piloting a compensation policy to pay parents as consultants involved in this crucial work.

This initiative aims to empower parents, fostering their transition from passive recipients of decisions to active advocates. Ultimately, the goal is to cultivate strong parent-community partnerships that contribute to a thriving community.
